As well as garden design I am also available for landscape design – designing outside spaces for commercial developments, public spaces, memorial landscapes, show gardens, etc.
Many of the principles of landscape design are shared with garden design; there are, however, differences that require careful consideration. In the case of public or commercial spaces there are often more complex issues of site planning involving health and safety and environmental considerations. Planting often needs to be more robust and easily maintained to survive public use, as will paths, paving and any hard landscaping.
I have worked on a number of commercial projects, designing and overseeing construction of a tennis club car park, designing and building an outdoor school stage and amphitheatre, designing and planting for a GP surgery, etc.
I designed and constructed a show garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in the form of a trade stand to showcase a robotic lawnmower and automatic irrigation system for Gardena.
